Create a backup of all your user data on some external media (External Disk drive is easiest)

• Note that not all data is in My Documents - often best to copy whole drive(s)
• Email is usually somewhere obscure
• Make a note of all userids and passwords in particular access to the internet and email (can be different)

Find your Windows or Recovery disk and registration code
Find install disks/files for any software you wish to reinstall and cannot download from the internet
Check all of the above - do not continue unless 100% happy

• NOTE - CONTINUING PAST THIS POINT WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PC

Reload system using Windows or Recovery disk

• Using a recovery disk is usually easy as you just boot up from that CD and follow instructions

1. Reload Firewall and Virus software
2. Install internet connection
3. Use windows update to bring system up to date
4. Reload rest of software applications

• Check for any updates to this software

1. Reinstall email accounts
2. Test it all works
