Protect your PC from Threats

You need to protect your PC (and the data stored on it) from various threats that come via your connection to the internet.

There are a number of facilities you should have.

  • A Firewall to stop unauthorised external access to your PC
  • A Virus checker to stop the download / email of files containing viruses.
  • Perhaps a Phishing package to stop your personal details being copied
  • A Spam checker to get rid of unwanted emails
All PCs should have a virus checker and a Firewall (especially if you are on Broadband)

I personnaly use the free versions of ZoneAlarm and AVG for my firewall and virus checker and have found these very good. I suggest reading magazine tests to see which packages are best and don't think you need to send a fortune on the software. The free ones are often as good.
